Announcing the Establishment of the Freethought Society/Secular Student Alliance Scholarship!
We are pleased to announce that each year the Freethought Society will award a $1,000 scholarship to one Secular Student Alliance member who is enrolled in any high school, trade school, college, or university in the United States. An essay is required.
As part of the application process, applicants should prepare a 30-60 second video in which a little bit more about one aspect of your application is highlighted. Perhaps disclose your secular identity, or why it is important to you, or why you are passionate about separation of religion and government, your activism, or just highlight something important to you.
The Secular Student Alliance empowers secular students to proudly express their identity, build welcoming communities, promote secular values, and set a course for lifelong activism. The Freethought Society scholarship is designed to support a student who, in addition to pursuing excellence in their academic studies, is also an activist for secular values on their campus and/or in their community. Samples of winning essays can be found at the below links.
